Help Buy Me A New Life

Since the last time I updated this I have sunk into depression, I have lost all my love for live and wish it would all end, every time I have tried to get help it has failed and I no longer really see any future.

I have to admit this idea was as much to test my faith in humanity as it was to solve my problem. I've always believed that people will do what they can to help others because that's instinctively who we are. But so far of all the people I have contacted all responses have been negative.

James Benamor, millionaire and entrepreneur, said no, but did have positive words of encouragement, and a prompt response, but still a no.

Noel Edmonds, via his management team, again no, less sincere or thought out words of encouragement, overall disappointment again.

Tescos, large supermarket chain, told me to contact my local store.

Sainsbury's, another large supermarket chain, another no but they did point out to me their charity work, which doesn't really help.

BP UK, big oil company, another no.

Virgin Unite, and again no.

So there you have it, still waiting for responses from the companies that haven't replied, and so next week I'll point out who couldn't even be polite enough to respond.

Overall so far not doing so well.

A new start

This is me, it is my sincerest hope that you will read this through, that you will understand the purpose of this blog and that you will hopefully help spread the word to others and assist me in my cause.

Right now there are hundreds, thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of people, companies, businesses with money sat doing nothing, and then there's me, a guy who works 40hrs a week to try and pay off his massive debt, living a lonely empty life because despite whether you believe it or not a good life costs money. I'll get to why I'm in debt later.

I've tried ways to make extra money, but none of them work well enough, so then it occurred to me, maybe those people with extra money might want to help out, might want to contribute to improving my life, to helping me start again, to try and find some kind of happiness. So I set up this page, obviously I will update it as the situation changes, which might be never or it might be daily, I intend to try and get large companies to help, either through donations with of course a favourable mention as being kind enough to help me out.

Of course to all those who donate I owe you all the story of how this happened, please understand I accept full responsibility for my situation but that doesn't mean outside factors haven't contributed. It started at school actually with the simple shocking realisation that schools do not emphasize and do not educate pupils on sensible money management, how to balance a checkbook, how to plan ahead, really quite important things, so I left school with no clue and little idea of the value of money.

My first job was a failure and then after 6 months of being unemployed I was lucky enough to get a job in retail, the same job I do now. My wage back then wasn't brilliant, probably minimum wage or just above, I got myself a bank account at the Royal Bank of Scotland, and that's when it started. Soon my bank offered me an overdraft, I used it and before I knew it I was more overdrawn than I was earning. So I got a loan to pay it off, I was clean again, but it didn't last, every now and then they would call me in to check things over and they offered to top up my loan, this is 10 years back and over the years it's been topped up a few times, of course with credit cards it all mounts up.

And so here I am now, finally a lot wiser and spending a lot less, but paying so much I can't afford my own place, can't afford to go out, without love, without anything other than work. I can't say it was all bad because my loan helped me meet my first real girlfriend, another on helped me buy my first computer, and the whole experience has taught me to be more careful, a lesson I pass on to others so they can avoid my mistake.

So there you have it, my story, and you see I have a plan to fix it, all I ask is that if you can help, you do, yes I know there are people who deserve help more than me, and if I was in a position to I would be helping them, but I'm not so I need you to help me, please.

I have set out three goals

1) Pay off my loans and cards so that, I can begin to live a fuller life.
2) Get my own place, rented or bought, so I have a place to call my own.
3) Have some savings to fall back on in times of need.

If I can get enough to take care of number 1 I will be happy, if I can take care of number 2 or even number 3 things will be perfect, and while I realise money cannot buy happiness I do know it will get me started and it will lead me to a better life.

So please donate, please help me.

So I have taken the first step in making this work, I'm contacting some of the larger UK companies to ask for their help, so far I have emailed BT, National Grid, Standard Chartered, HSBC, Coca-Cola UK, Virgin. I also found a nifty listing of CEO email addresses online and will mail them, including RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) it is my hope they will be willing to help since I'm a customer and they're always been so willing to throw money at me over the years.

I will of course keep you updated on any successes, people who say yes, people who say no, people who don't reply.

Okay so I'm still waiting for responses from my corporate emails, it's the weekend, and these guys are all busy so maybe soon, but I've also mailed a few magazines and newspapers to see if they want to help. I hope for at least some response.
